Adopt

Where can I find those cute furballs from your ads?!

One of the most common questions we get is: Can I adopt a puppy/kitten from you? The short answer is no. We’re just a vet clinic, so we have to give all of the adorable little fluffs back at the end of the day. People would get mad at us if we started giving their pets away to strangers. However, we do work with several fantastic rescues. The following is a list of links to their adoption sites. Typically our social media posts will focus on dogs and cats available for adoption from one of these.

Volunteers bring their foster cats/kittens to meet their potential families every weekend at the Angel’s Wish Pet Adoption and Resource Center in Verona and Petsmart Madison-East. Most Angel’s Wish adoptables are kittens found by Good Samaritans or by volunteers doing TNR (trap-neuter-release) of outdoor cats. Others are surrendered by owners, while a few are found adult strays that are not reclaimed. Whenever possible, Angel’s Wish accepts incoming transfers from humane societies and rescue groups in Wisconsin. Angel’s Wish was founded in 2000 and is a 501c3 charitable organization.

After a refreshing stay at Annabelle Acres, we match our special labs with the special people within our local Wisconsin communities. Garlan Henry Britton Animal Sanctuary

Adoption Page

I named my licensed rescue after my late father who I refer to as a pioneer in animal rescue and training because he was a natural with animals and so compassionate.  Anyone who knew my Dad knew that if they couldn’t keep their dog, my Dad would take them, give them a good temporary home, my Mom even gave the dogs home made meals, and then they would find them a new family.  My Dad always trained the dogs and they respected him. We aren’t a large rescue. We very much appreciate those who donate to us! Because we are a small rescue, we do not tend to get the large donations and grants and partnerships that larger rescues do. Nevertheless, any area resident and fellow rescuers can tell you, if they have reached out to us for help, we do not typically say no. I,  Angela Britton,  am the founder and President of our rescue. In the last couple of years I have developed some serious health issues, so we have had to cut back on the number of animal intakes. I obviously can’t neglect my health otherwise  I will eventually not be able to help ANY animals and I want to be involved in rescue in some capacity as long as I possibly can. Thankfully,  we have been able to take a couple of animals at a time.  Sometimes we get reliable fosters and we can help more animals.

We LOVE  our adopters! In our contract we encourage our adopters to send us pictures and keep in touch with us and we have SO ENJOYED  seeing our rescue animals go from being down and out from the point of intake,  to THRIVING  with their new families!! When we have time we even drop off little packages with treats and toys for our adopted animals.  We love the “extended family ” we have built with our adopters. We are very thorough with finding the right humans for our rescue animals so that they go to good,  stable homes and our adopters always tell us that they appreciate us doing that.  Attached is a picture of our rescue namesake with 2 of his beloved horses.
