Second Chance Animal Advocates
Second Chance Animal Advocates is a non-profit organization based in Dane County, Wisconsin.
We provide financial assistance to small animals or people with a pet requiring health service they cannot afford.
Our Mission is to provide information to the public to promote responsible pet ownership, encourage the spaying and neutering of pets, deter abandonment and other cruelties toward small animals and to financially help those who truly cannot afford the necessary medical cost of spaying/neutering or an unexpected emergency.
Everyone Needs A Home
EveryoneNeedsAHome (ENAH) is a nonprofit animal welfare organization dedicated to our pet food pantry and the spaying and neutering of cats and dogs in the Lafayette and Green Counties of Wisconsin. Through generous donations and grants, we have provided financial assistance for the spaying and neutering for approximately 1,500 animals for area residents so far.
WisCARES
Wisconsin Companion Animal Resources, Education, and Social Services (WisCARES) is an outreach partnership at the University of Wisconsin that provides basic veterinary medical care, housing support and advocacy, and other support services to Dane County pet owners who are low income, currently experiencing or are at risk of homelessness, as well as those who are unable to pay for veterinary medical services needed for access to housing.
Green County Humane Society
SNAP is a program funded by the United Way of Green County to provide financial assistance to Green County residents with the costs associated with spaying or neutering animals. To be eligible for SNAP assistance, an application must be completed detailing the number of animals requiring alteration, number of people in the household and monthly household income. Upon approval of the application by the Executive Director, the applicant will receive a voucher that can be submitted as payment to participating area vets.
Dane County Humane Society
Dane County Humane Society partners with the Community Action Coalition for South Central WI, Inc. (CAC) to supply pet food and cat litter to participating Dane County food pantries. Since its start in 2011, the program has collected and distributed over 260,000 pounds of pet food and kitty litter to local food pantries. (Please note that we do not operate a pet food pantry at DCHS. Donated food is sent out to participating pantries for distribution.)
RedRover Relief
The RedRover Relief Urgent Care grant program helps animals who need urgent and emergency veterinary care. While more often than not these aren’t cases we can help with, maybe this grant can help make another option more affordable. The typical grant is around $200, and is intended to fill a small gap in funding that is keeping an animal from care. Decisions are based upon several factors, including: medical urgency, financial need, available funding, and eligibility.
Helping Hands 4 Pets
Helping Hands for Pets (HH4P) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to keeping pets in their homes where they are cherished and loved. Our programs provide qualified pet owners in Western Wisconsin basic financial assistance to keep a pet in its home rather than being
surrendered to a shelter or euthanized due to financial limitations. This assistance program has been created for responsible pet owners and caretakers with genuine need, and who may not otherwise be able to afford to have a pet spayed/neutered.
The Humane Society of the United States
The Humane Society of America is a national organization dedicated to taking on the larger causes in animal welfare that smaller local organizations are ill-equipped to handle. However, they have also taken the time to create a list of local organizations that provide assistance to pet owners in need.
Dogs on Deployments
Dogs On Deployment is a 501(c)(3) national non-profit which provides an online network for service members to search for volunteers who are willing to board their pets during their owner’s service commitments. Dogs on Deployment promotes responsible, life-long pet ownership by military pet owners by advocating for military pet owner rights, providing educational resources and granting financial assistance for military pet owners during times of emergency.
